Botanical name: citrus paradisi
White Grapefruit essential oil has an excitingly-fresh, bitter-sweet irresistible aroma. Grapefruit's odour effect is uplifting & anti-depressant; a wonderful tonic that aids in cellulite reduction, muscle fatigue, chills, colds & flu.
All citrus trees are native to tropical Asia, but are cultivated throughout the world. Most of the essential oil is produced in California, but can be from many places.
The type of grapefruit we always use for all our products that contain grapefruit oil, is white grapefruit which is more expensive than the similar, less expensive pink grapefruit, but the difference is well worth the extra cash. The white version is much cleaner, crisper, spunkier an aroma with a better likeness to the awesome aroma you would get if you were to cut open a fresh grapefruit off the tree.
Grapefruit essential oil blends well with Geranium, Bergamot, Lavender, Lemon Myrtle, Lime, Patchouli, Petitgrain, Rosemary, Sage, Tea tree, Ylang Ylang and most other citrus and herb essences.
