bergamot - italy
Botanical name: citrus bergamia
Like sunshine in a bottle, Bergamot's essential oil aroma is sparklingly-citrus & perky; with a hint of spice. It's odour effect is uplifting and refreshing.
Bergamot essential oil is named after the Italian city in Lombardy where the oil was first sold. It comes from a small evergreen tree growing to about 15 feet tall. The pear shaped fruit ripens from green to yellow, like mini oranges in appearance. Like other citrus trees, bergamot is native to Asia but is cultivated in many parts of the world. Most of the world's supply of Bergamot oil is produced in Southern Italy.
Bergamot is a refreshing classic and is why it has been used as the signature aroma for Earl Grey tea for years. It was also one of the classic ingredients of the original eau-de-cologne. A "must have" in any essential oil collection. Blends well with Geranium, Grapefruit, Lavender, Lemon Myrtle, Lime, Patchouli, Petitgrain, Rosemary, Sage, Tea tree, Ylang Ylang and most citrus & herb essences.
